Title: HVAC Service Technician

Location: Central North Carolina

Compensation: $35-$50/hr

Tiello is partnering with a well-established Mechanical Contractor in Central North Carolina on their search for an experienced HVAC Service Technician. This is a critical role focused on servicing and maintaining commercial HVAC systems across key accounts.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level technician with strong mechanical aptitude, chiller experience, and the ability to lead system rebuilds and mentor junior technicians.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform scheduled maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, including coil cleaning, filter and belt replacement, lubrication, and equipment logging.
Diagnose and repair equipment such as fan coils, chillers, water source heat pumps, air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes.
Conduct proactive inspections to prevent system failures and reduce callback rates.
Analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal system performance.
Inspect and test systems to verify proper function for warranty service applications.
Lead retrofit and rebuild projects, including mentoring Level I and II technicians through hands-on demonstrations and system procedures.
Maintain accurate service records, timecards, inventory logs, and billing documentation.
Communicate effectively with customers throughout the service process and explain technical information in clear, accessible terms.
Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Some regional travel may be required, including occasional overnight stays.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience with progressive responsibility.
EPA Universal Certification required.
Valid driver`s license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service needs.
Local or state-required licenses/certifications (as applicable).
Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently or lead small teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with centrifugal chillers or system-level rebuilds.
Prior mentoring or leadership experience.
Familiarity with service documentation platforms or digital field service tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
Comfortable working in commercial field environments.
Willingness to travel for service coverage or training.
