Job Title: Project / Senior Accountant – Waterproofing Contractor

Location: San Marcos, TX (In-Office Only)

Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000+ (DOE) + Bonus Potential

Company Overview:

Tiello is partnered with a Central Texas-based specialty contractor focused on commercial waterproofing and building envelope services. With a growing portfolio of complex projects across the region, they’re looking to bring on a hands-on Project Accountant or Senior Accountant to join their office in San Marcos, TX, and own the financial side of ongoing construction operations.

Role Summary:

This role is ideal for an experienced construction accountant who thrives in a detail-driven environment and enjoys working closely with operations teams to ensure financial accuracy on active jobs. The right person is grounded in job costing, understands WIP reporting, and is ready to step into a long-term, growth-focused role.

Project Type:

Commercial Waterproofing, Building Envelope, and Restoration Projects

Job Responsibilities:

• Track budgets, actual costs, commitments, and change orders across multiple active jobs
• Manage monthly WIP schedules, revenue recognition, and project financials
• Review contracts and ensure compliance with financial terms and invoicing milestones
• Partner with project managers on cost coding, billing accuracy, and job closeouts
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable for assigned projects
• Assist with cash flow planning, forecasting, and budget reviews
• Maintain internal controls and support documentation for external audits
• Implement process improvements and support system upgrades within accounting

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 5+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry (subcontractor background preferred)
• Proficiency in construction-specific software (FOUNDATION, Sage 300, or Viewpoint)
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and AIA billing
• Solid professional tenure — this is a role for someone looking to stay and grow
• Familiar with lien releases, contract compliance, and closeout procedures
• Advanced Excel skills and strong financial accuracy
• Bachelor`s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
