Tiello is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to support preconstruction and project delivery efforts for commercial mechanical projects. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional with strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, materials, and labor requirements who thrives on accuracy, collaboration, and problem-solving.
As an Estimator, you’ll be responsible for reviewing plans, specifications, and proposals to prepare complete and competitive cost estimates. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure every bid reflects quality - setting each project up for success from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop detailed HVAC cost estimates
- Perform material, labor, and equipment takeoffs for mechanical systems
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop accurate bid strategies
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and cost breakdowns for presentation
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering options
- Maintain historical cost data and update estimating databases regularly
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and client discussions as needed
- Support transition from estimating to project management after project award
Skills & Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience estimating commercial or industrial HVAC projects
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, and installation methods
- Familiarity with ASHRAE and SMACNA standards
- Proficiency with estimating and project management software (Bluebeam, Procore, MS Excel, or equivalent)
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
