Location: Atlanta, GA
Compensation: $150,000 - $190,000 (depending on experience)

Tiello has partnered with a well-established commercial masonry contractor with a strong presence across Georgia and the Southeast. Known for their commitment to craftsmanship, collaboration, and integrity, this firm continues to grow its reputation as a trusted partner on complex masonry projects. With an expanding project portfolio and a forward-thinking leadership team, they are seeking a Director of Preconstruction to strengthen their preconstruction and estimating operations.
Role Summary:
The Director of Preconstruction will serve as a key player in driving preconstruction efforts from concept through contract award. This role combines technical estimating expertise, strategic planning, and client engagement to ensure projects are positioned for success from the start. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative, with a strong understanding of masonry systems and commercial construction.
Project Type:
Commercial Masonry Projects – Education, Healthcare, Institutional, Mixed-Use, and Commercial Developments ($1M – $30M)
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of the preconstruction process, including conceptual estimating, detailed takeoffs, and value engineering.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams to develop accurate budgets, scopes, and bid strategies.
- Manage estimating and bid activities from initial pursuit through project award.
- Develop preconstruction schedules, bid logistics, and phasing plans.
- Support business development initiatives by maintaining strong relationships with clients and design partners.
- Mentor and train junior estimators, promoting a culture of precision and teamwork.
- Partner with project management to ensure smooth project handoff and alignment on scope and cost objectives.
- Identify risks, market trends, and material cost drivers impacting project pricing and delivery.
- Contribute to strategic planning and forecasting for upcoming pursuits and growth opportunities.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in estimating or preconstruction within commercial masonry or general construction.
- Proven track record managing preconstruction efforts for projects ranging from $1M to $30M+.
- Strong technical understanding of masonry assemblies, materials, and detailing.
- Proficient in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ownership of the preconstruction process.
- Florida market experience preferred.
