Company Overview
Tiello is partnered with a leading Commercial Waterproofing and Building Envelope Contractor in their search for a General Manager to oversee and grow branch operations within the region.
This organization specializes in below-grade waterproofing, building envelope systems, restoration, and related specialty construction services. They are seeking a proven, hands-on leader who can drive growth, operational excellence, and profitability while building strong teams and long-term client relationships.
Role Summary
The General Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the commercial waterproofing construction branch. This role owns full P&L responsibility and oversees business development, estimating, project execution, safety, staffing, and financial performance.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in commercial waterproofing or specialty construction, strong operational leadership, and the ability to grow both people and revenue in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic business plan to grow commercial waterproofing and building envelope services within the assigned region
- Drive business development by building relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, architects, engineers, and consultants
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities, bid projects, and expand service offerings
- Oversee estimating, preconstruction planning, scheduling, staffing, safety, and field execution
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents and specifications
- Maintain full P&L responsibility including budgeting, forecasting, billing, receivables, payables, and financial reporting
- Monitor job cost reports and implement corrective actions to improve margins and productivity
- Recruit, hire, train, and lead project managers, superintendents, foremen, and office staff
- Provide performance reviews, coaching, and leadership development for direct reports
- Ensure compliance with all safety, insurance, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, subcontractors, and specialty vendors
- Act as the face of the organization within the industry and participate in trade associations such as ICRI, CSI, BOMA, IFMA, and related groups
- Collaborate with executive leadership and other General Managers to align branch goals with company-wide initiatives
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality workmanship, and customer service
Qualifications / Requirements
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in commercial construction, with strong preference for waterproofing, building envelope, restoration, or specialty trades
- Proven leadership experience managing operations, teams, and financial performance
- Strong business development and relationship-driven sales background
- Demonstrated experience managing large field and office teams
- Strong financial acumen including job cost control, forecasting, and construction accounting
- Deep understanding of waterproofing systems, construction methods, scheduling, and labor management
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Ability to mentor and develop future leaders
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction software (estimating, PM, job cost systems)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed

- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed
- Ability to visit job sites and attend client meetings
