Job Title: Comptroller (Accountant)

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 Base Salary + Full Benefits

Tiello has partnered with a premier Naval Ship Repair Prime Contractor in Norfolk, VA on their search for a Comptroller/Accountant
The Comptroller/Accountant manages financial operations for government and commercial contracts, focusing on job costing, period closing, balance sheet reconciliations (accruals, % of completion), budgeting, auditing, and ensuring GAAP compliance for complex construction/project-based revenue streams, requiring strong Excel, ERP (like NetSuite), Quickbooks and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining the general ledger, by performing monthly account reconciliations to include credit card and bank account reconciliations, to ensure accurate reporting.
- Completes bank reconciliation entries daily and weekly.
- Reconciles all Balance Sheet accounts.
- Creates and maintains schedules for all Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, and Accrued Expenses.
- Researches and troubleshoots any issues related to AP, AR and Payroll as needed.
- Reviews and corrects AP vouchers as required.
- Serves as back-up to generate and submit invoices to customers, tracking status with high level of accuracy.
- Cradle to grave project management and analysis to include complex financial analysis for all active projects; closely interacting with Purchasing, Production, and the Cost Analyst, to reconcile project spend and open commitments.
- Responsible for contract close out meetings with Management.
- Provides weekly agenda for finance meetings per job.
- Assists CFO with year-end CPA review, DCAA audits and other miscellaneous duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Combination of education and experience equal to at least 4 years of full cycle Accounts Payable processing including invoice processing, supplier maintenance, and cash management.
- Experience with government cost accounting (FAR, DFARs, JTR) preferred.
- Ability to work in a very high transaction volume environment
- Excellent math skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team, displaying strong work ethic and sound leadership.
- Proficiency in Account, Balance Sheet, and Bank Reconciliations.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, such as QuickBooks.
- Experience working in a network environment with client server technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google suite.
