Title: Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
Location: Columbia, MD (hybrid flexibility within DMV region)
Pay: $90K - $130K+ (depending on experience)

Join a growing mechanical systems firm that’s setting a higher standard for quality, collaboration, and long-term growth. We’re seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support large-scale commercial and institutional projects ensuring every system performs exactly as designed.
You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and owners to make sure buildings operate at peak efficiency, sustainability, and comfort.
What You’ll Do
- Review owner requirements, design documents, and project specifications to verify alignment.
- Conduct detailed field inspections of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and controls systems.
- Develop and execute commissioning test plans, document performance data, and track resolution of deficiencies.
- Prepare professional reports and deliver actionable recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Collaborate across disciplines to drive continuous improvement and project success.
- Stay current with evolving codes, standards, and industry best practices.
What You’ll Bring
- 4+ years of commissioning or mechanical systems field experience (testing, inspection, or MEP startup).
- Solid background in at least one discipline: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or building automation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication - able to simplify complex technical findings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management tools.
- Comfortable navigating active job sites (including ladders, lifts, and rooftops).
- Certification as a Commissioning Professional or Licensed Engineer required.
Bonus Points
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Familiarity with LEED, sustainability programs, and building performance metrics.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
