Job Title: Lead Chiller Service Technician
Location: Winston-Salem, High Point, Greensboro, NC
Compensation: $40-55/hr DOE

Tiello has partnered with a leading Mechanical Services Provider in the Winston-Salem-Greensboro-High Point, NC area on their search for a Lead Chiller Service Technician to join their high-performing field service team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a skilled technician to work with advanced HVAC and chiller systems across commercial and industrial settings while enjoying union benefits and long-term career growth.
The Chiller Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of various large-tonnage chiller systems and associated HVAC equipment. This position offers hands-on work, technical problem-solving, and customer interaction in a safety-first, team-oriented environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform inspection, maintenance, and repairs on centrifugal, screw, scroll, and magnetic bearing chillers.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using advanced troubleshooting tools and software.
- Interpret and work from technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to execute service work.
- Ensure full compliance with company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Provide clear communication with customers regarding service progress, findings, and recommendations.
- Complete accurate documentation, work orders, and service reports.
- Offer technical guidance and mentorship to apprentice or junior-level technicians as needed.
- Operate independently in the field while also collaborating with other service team members when necessary.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience servicing and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC systems, specifically chillers.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- Journeyman HVAC Certification or Union affiliation preferred.
- Proficiency with BAS (Building Automation Systems) and control interfaces from Carrier, Trane, York, McQuay, and Daikin.
- Solid understanding of chiller operations, including centrifugal, screw, scroll, magnetic bearing, and absorption systems.
- Strong communication skills and customer service mindset.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of technical detail and accuracy.
