Security Systems Service Technician
Job Title: Security Systems Service Technician (Commercial)
Location: Connecticut – primarily New Haven County
(Occasional service calls in Rhode Island)
Pay Range: $35–$50/hour
Tiello has partnered with a highly reputable commercial security systems integrator to identify a Service Security Systems Technician to support a growing service division in Connecticut. This role is ideal for a technician who thrives in service, troubleshooting, and programming environments, with a strong emphasis on intrusion systems. The right candidate will be hands-on, customer-facing, and comfortable diagnosing and resolving complex system issues in live environments. Company vehicles are provided, along with long-term growth opportunities within a stable and expanding organization.
Project & Service Environments: Commercial office buildings, Education (K–12), Industrial and mixed-use facilities, Retail and corporate environments
Key Responsibilities
- Perform service, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial electronic security systems, with a heavy focus on intrusion systems
- Diagnose system faults, programming issues, device failures, and communication errors
- Program, modify, and test intrusion panels (DMP experience strongly preferred)
- Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls with professionalism and urgency
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and system health checks
- Execute light system modifications, including device adds, deletes, and replacements
- Test and verify system functionality to ensure operational integrity and customer satisfaction
- Document service work, update as-builts, and maintain accurate system records
- Coordinate with project managers, installation teams, and IT contacts as needed
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, inventory, and follow all safety protocols
- Represent the company professionally on-site with clients and end users
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–6+ years of experience in commercial electronic security systems
- Connecticut Low Voltage / Security License required
- OSHA certification (current or ability to obtain)
- Rhode Island license a plus (not required)
- Strong intrusion experience required, including troubleshooting and programming
- Hands-on experience with:
- DMP intrusion systems (highly preferred)
- Honeywell intrusion platforms
- LenelS2, AMAG, iPro access control systems
- Axis and Digital Watchdog CCTV systems
- Solid understanding of low-voltage installation and troubleshooting best practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system schematics
- Working knowledge of IP networking and basic network troubleshooting
- Proficiency with test equipment (multimeters, cable testers, etc.)
- Familiarity with NEC and applicable building codes
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
