Company Overview:
Tiello has partnered with a leading Structural Steel Fabricator/Erector who is looking for a Structural Steel Project Engineer for structural steel erection projects in the Midwest.
Role Summary:
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong focus on structural steel design and erection engineering for large-scale projects. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of structural analysis related to steel erection, ensuring stability and safety throughout all phases of construction. You will play a key role in collaborating with engineering, pre-construction, and field teams to support efficient project execution.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to analyze complex structural systems, interpret project drawings and specifications, and develop effective erection strategies including temporary works design such as shoring, lifting beams, and erection aids. Your primary goal is to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective erection processes while maintaining quality, structural integrity, and overall project success.

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis to ensure stability of steel structures during all stages of erection
- Develop erection engineering plans and strategies for complex steel structures
- Design temporary works including shoring systems, lifting beams, lifting lugs, and erection aids
- Collaborate with Engineering Manager and cross-functional teams to support project execution
- Support Pre-Construction and Estimating teams with constructability and stability reviews during bid phase
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Field Teams to ensure safe and efficient erection processes
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure accuracy and feasibility
- Participate in site visits as needed to support field operations and resolve engineering challenges
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Attend industry events and trade shows as a representative of the company
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural focus preferred)
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in the engineering industry, preferably within structural steel
- Strong experience in design and analysis of structural steel buildings
- Proficient with steel design codes and specifications, including ASCE 7 and ASCE 37
- Experience with Structural Steel Erection Engineering and Rigging Engineering preferred
- Proficiency in RISA 3D, AutoCAD, and Revit; exposure to Tekla is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and adapt in dynamic environments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and results-driven mindset
- Willingness to travel occasionally
