Our client is a family-owned commercial roofing contractor serving building owners, property managers, facility managers, and developers throughout New Jersey. They provide comprehensive roofing solutions including repairs, replacements, new installations, and preventative maintenance programs.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to support the company’s preconstruction and sales efforts by developing accurate estimates and helping drive profitable project execution.
Position Overview
The Commercial Roofing Estimator will be responsible for evaluating roofing projects, performing detailed takeoffs, and preparing competitive bids for repair, replacement, and new installation projects.This role works closely with sales, operations, suppliers, and clients to ensure estimates are well scoped, accurately priced, and aligned with company standards.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented estimating professional with strong technical knowledge of commercial roofing systems, capable of supporting business development efforts while ensuring projects are positioned for profitable execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform roof inspections, site visits, and field assessments to gather project details for repairs, reroofs, and new roof installations
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and field data to prepare accurate takeoffs, estimates, and proposals
• Source pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors while maintaining up-to-date material and labor cost data
• Support business development and sales efforts by providing technical expertise and assisting with client interactions
• Track bid activity, manage proposal follow-ups, and assist with value engineering when appropriate
• Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure accurate project scoping and smooth project transitions
• Maintain organized estimating files, project documentation, and CRM records
• Communicate clearly with clients, vendors, and internal teams regarding scope, pricing, and timelines
• Assist with project handoff to operations to ensure alignment between estimating, project management, and field execution
Qualifications
• 5+ years of commercial roofing estimating experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems and installation methods
• Proven experience performing accurate takeoffs and project estimates
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills when working with clients, vendors, and internal teams
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Proficiency with estimating software such as The EDGE
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, CRM systems, and construction management platforms
• Ability to perform roof inspections and field assessments when required
