About the Opportunity
Tiello is currently partnered with a well-established specialty construction contractor in the South Torrance, CA area in their search for a Senior Accountant. This is a high-impact role within a dynamic finance team, offering the opportunity to lead complex accounting functions, ensure compliance with GAAP, and contribute to strategic financial decision-making.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing full-cycle accounting processes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Oversee payroll processing using platforms like ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, including benefits administration and tax compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including financial analysis and reporting
- Assist with audit preparation and maintain accurate financial documentation
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements through implementation and monitoring of internal controls
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and support business decision-making
- Assist with governmental and non-profit accounting requirements, including grant tracking and reporting when applicable
- Support implementation and maintenance of HRIS systems for payroll and HR data
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to improve financial processes and reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, with 2–3+ years in a supervisory or senior-level role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, double-entry accounting, and reconciliation processes
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems and ERP platforms
- Experience managing AP/AR, payroll systems and benefits administration
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- High level of accuracy in data entry and financial reporting (including 10-key proficiency)
