Salary Range: $45-$50 /hour
Tiello is partnering with a well-respected Industrial HVAC Services Provider in Houston, TX on their search for an experienced HVAC/R Service Technician to join their growing service team. This is a great opportunity for a technician with strong troubleshooting skills and a wide range of mechanical expertise in industrial and commercial HVAC/R systems.
The HVAC/R Service Technician will work under the direction of a Field Supervisor to perform demand service, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of comfort and process HVAC/R equipment. This role requires hands-on technical knowledge, customer-facing communication skills, and the flexibility to respond to emergency and scheduled service calls in an industrial environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair classified and non-classified HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units, ice machines, ACs, motors, furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, VFDs, fans, economizers, pressurizers, dehumidifiers, and humidifiers.
- Troubleshoot and calibrate systems to manufacturer specifications, and explain service issues and recommendations clearly to the customer.
- Accurately document equipment details (make, model, serial, test measurements, etc.) upon arrival at each job site.
- Maintain communication with dispatch, customers, and management to ensure timely updates and effective service delivery.
- Travel to job sites and respond to customer needs on schedule, including potential night or weekend shifts for emergency service coverage.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory in working order and submit required vehicle inspections.
- Navigate field service software and document service activities via mobile app.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry technology and safety standards.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial/commercial HVAC/R systems.
- Strong knowledge of DX comfort and process systems, water-cooled chilled water, air pressurization, scrubber systems, and pneumatic/digital controls.
- Ability to work on HVAC/R equipment up to 50 tons.
- Proficient with reading schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
- Comfortable working independently and in team settings.
- Safety-oriented with knowledge of industrial safety practices and regulations.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to work with app-based service tools.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Universal EPA Certification
- TWIC Card
- Basic Safety Certification (HASC or ISTC)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work from heights or in confined spaces.
- Capability to carry ladders and operate lifting equipment when needed.
