Job Title: Low Voltage Technician (Mechanical Contractor – Controls & BAS)

Compensation: $20-$28/hr

Tiello is partnered with a leading Mechanical Contractor specializing in HVAC systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and energy management solutions in their search for a Low Voltage Technician to support commercial and industrial mechanical projects.
This organization provides integrated HVAC, controls, and energy-efficient system solutions for healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial facilities.
Role Summary:
The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, and troubleshooting of low voltage wiring and control devices supporting HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS). This role works closely with controls engineers, project managers, and mechanical installation teams to ensure systems are installed accurately and operate efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with HVAC controls, DDC systems, or building automation wiring in commercial environments.

Job Responsibilities:
- Install and terminate low voltage wiring for HVAC control systems and BAS equipment
- Mount and wire controllers, sensors, actuators, VFDs, relays, and control panels
- Install control devices including temperature sensors, humidity sensors, pressure switches, and damper actuators
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
- Perform point-to-point checkout and assist with system commissioning
- Troubleshoot control wiring and device communication issues
- Assist Controls Technicians and Engineers with startup and system verification
- Label wiring and maintain accurate as-built documentation
- Ensure compliance with NEC and local code requirements
- Coordinate with mechanical installers and other trades on job sites
- Maintain safe work practices and follow company safety policies
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience in low voltage installation
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and control schematics
- Experience terminating low voltage control panels and field devices
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and lifts
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
