ABOUT RACHEL
I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, where I grew up in a hardworking, blue-collar household that taught me the value of dedication, resilience, and craftsmanship. My mom was a stay-at-home parent until my siblings and I were in school, and then she returned to teaching 4th grade in Virginia Beach. My dad worked for US Airways before retiring to run his own construction business, focusing on home renovations and house flipping — an experience that gave me a deep appreciation for the trades and the people who power them.
I attended the University of Lynchburg, where I studied Biomedical Science and played collegiate volleyball. After graduating, I took time to explore my career path and ultimately found my stride in staffing and recruiting. For the past 8 years, I’ve specialized in recruiting within the engineering space across Hampton Roads, working with clients in manufacturing, aerospace, and defense.
Now, I’m excited to bring that experience to Tiello, where I focus on the manufacturing and mechanical industries. It’s a natural fit given my background, and I’m passionate about building strong, lasting relationships — whether I’m helping a candidate find their next opportunity or solving a business challenge for a client.
What is your favorite thing about the Construction Industry?
My favorite thing about the construction industry is how rewarding it is to see your work take shape in the real world — from the ground up. There’s something special about watching an idea turn into something tangible that people will use and enjoy for years to come. I love the mix of problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skill the industry demands. No two projects are ever the same, and each one brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, improve, and grow. Most of all, I value the collaboration it takes to bring everything together, knowing that what we build not only stands as a structure but also makes a lasting, positive impact on the community.
What are some hobbies/Interests?
When I’m not working, I love traveling with my husband and exploring new places—it’s my favorite way to soak up new experiences and see the beauty of the world. I’m all about the work hard, play hard mindset! I also love spending time with my family, whether that’s hanging out with my niece and nephew, being a foodie my husband, or playing with our dog, Oshie. Staying active is a big part of my life too, so you’ll often find me working out at Burn Boot Camp or going on long walks/hikes.
Favorite book or famous quote?
“Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” – Henry Ford
This resonates with me because it’s a reminder that true character shows in the effort and integrity you put in, even when no one else is watching.
