Construction Recruiter

ABOUT LAURA
I currently live in Houston, Texas and have been here for the last 15 years! I am a dual citizen with my other citizenship coming from Finland, where the rest of my family resides. I went to school for two and a half years at Texas A&M University in College Station where I studied Technology and graduated from University of Houston where I have a degree in Technology. I quickly realized my calling was not to be behind a computer all day not talking to anyone, and then recruiting came knocking on my door. I have now been in the recruitment industry for 4 years and have loved having the opportunity to work with so many different people and be able to make an impact on them!
My calling has always been to help others and I knew this since I was a little girl! I am so happy to be helping people in the Construction industry now!
What is your favorite thing about the Construction Industry?
My favorite thing about construction is it is ever changing! We will always need it and it will always be there. There are lots of challenged within in and I love a good challenge! Living in Houston, I see a lot of construction around me as this city is constantly growing and I have always been interested in seeing the process from the ground up and now I get the chance to staff the people that make this happen!
What are some hobbies/Interests?
I enjoy being outside a lot, although I am in arguably one of the most miserably hot and humid cities in the states! I live right next to two major parks in Houston within walking distance, so I love to walk my dog out there and enjoy the nature we have in the city! I also really enjoy cooking and learning new recipes! I'm also very big into sports so you will always catch me tuning into anything sports related - especially my Houston teams!
Favorite book or famous quote?
"Every strike bring me closer to the next home run" - Babe Ruth
I love this quote, because in this industry you have to remind yourself that things happen and not everything is going to be a smooth ride! But moving forward and not letting the speed bumps stop you gets you to the finish line.
