ABOUT Gio

My name is Giovanni Garza, and I've spent the last five years in recruiting, primarily supporting the skilled trades, engineering, construction, industrial, and energy industries. Before getting into recruiting, I came from a sales and customer service background, where I learned the importance of building relationships, understanding people's needs, and always following through on my word.

What I enjoy most about recruiting is helping people find opportunities that can genuinely change their lives. Coming from a blue-collar background and having hands-on experience around construction, electrical, instrumentation, welding, and mechanical environments, I understand the work because I've been around it. That experience helps me connect with both candidates and clients on a more personal level and allows me to understand what it takes to be successful in the field.

Over the years, I've had the opportunity to help staff projects across power generation, renewable energy, manufacturing, oil & gas, data centers, and industrial construction. I take pride in being someone people can trust, whether they're looking for their next career move or trying to build a successful project team.

At the end of the day, I'm a people person. I enjoy building relationships, helping others succeed, and being part of an industry that creates things that last. Every project, every hire, and every conversation is an opportunity to make a positive impact, and that's what keeps me passionate about what I do.

What is your favorite thing about the Construction Industry?

My favorite thing about the construction industry is seeing something built from nothing. It's amazing to watch a project start as an idea on paper and eventually become a power plant, manufacturing facility, data center, renewable energy site, or industrial operation that serves people for years to come.

I also love the people in this industry. Construction is filled with hardworking individuals who take pride in their craft, solve problems every day, and aren't afraid of a challenge. There's a strong sense of teamwork and accomplishment that you don't find in many other industries.

What are some hobbies/Interests?

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, learning new things, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. I train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and am proud to hold a brown belt. The sport has taught me discipline, patience, humility, and the value of continuous improvement. I also participate in CrossFit because health and wellness are a major part of my lifestyle.

Every Sunday you'll usually find me rock climbing. I love the challenge, problem-solving, and adventure that comes with it. Music is another passion of mine. I play piano and am currently learning guitar, with the goal of eventually creating my own lo-fi beats.

I have a dog named Manu, named after my favorite basketball player, Manu Ginóbili. Growing up in San Antonio, I have always been a huge fan of the San Antonio Spurs—Go Spurs Go!

Most importantly, I love being outdoors and experiencing life. We only get one shot at it, and I want to make the most of every opportunity to learn, grow, travel, meet new people, and create great memories along the way

Favorite book or famous quote?

My favorite book is Atomic Habits by James Clear. I enjoy the book because it focuses on the power of small, consistent improvements over time. The idea that tiny changes can lead to massive results really resonates with me, both professionally and personally. Whether it's recruiting, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, CrossFit, learning guitar, or simply becoming a better person, success comes from showing up every day and getting a little better.

My favorite quote is:

"Don't let good be good enough."

It's simple, but powerful. To me, it means never becoming comfortable with average and always striving to improve
