Tiello has partnered with a leading Electrical Contractor that is looking a Vice President of Operations to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our electrical contracting company in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This senior executive role will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, managing key business functions, and ensuring the successful execution of our projects. The Vice President of Operations will play a critical role in shaping the long-term growth of the company while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the operations of all electrical contracting projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and safety regulations.
- Lead and manage teams across multiple functions, including project management, field operations, procurement, and service.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to streamline processes, improve productivity, and ensure the highest level of quality control across projects.
Project Management Oversight
- Supervise the project management team to ensure the smooth execution of both small and large-scale electrical projects.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions to resolve issues related to cost overruns, delays, or quality concerns.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing electrical work and safety standards.
- Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement, implementing training programs and safety audits for all staff and contractors.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with safety protocols on all job sites.
Budgeting & Financial Management
- Oversee the development and management of operational budgets, including forecasting and tracking expenditures.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies to maximize profitability without compromising on quality.
- Provide regular reports to the CEO regarding operational performance, budget status, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Team Development & Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operational managers, field supervisors, and project managers.
- Implement training programs to develop skills and improve overall performance across departments.
- Create a positive, collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement and employee engagement.
Vendor & Client Relationship Management
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of materials and services.
- Act as the point of escalation for client concerns, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
Strategic Planning & Growth
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop long-term growth strategies, ensuring operational alignment with company goals.
- Drive expansion into new markets and ensure operational readiness for increased project volume.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to identify new business opportunities and operational enhancements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations leadership within the electrical contracting or construction industry.
- Proven experience managing large-scale projects from inception to completion.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical contracting, including budgeting, procurement, scheduling, and safety regulations.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing diverse teams, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff at all levels.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of operational best practices, project management methodologies, and construction safety standards.
- Excellent financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Superior leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organized, with a strategic mindset and the ability to prioritize tasks and solve complex problems under pressure.
- Proficiency in project management software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Electrical Contractor License in Florida preferred.
