Tiello is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Service Technician to join a growing service team in the Los Angeles area. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, rack systems, and supporting HVAC equipment.
The ideal candidate is EPA Universal certified, safety-driven, and has at least 3+ years of field experience diagnosing and repairing complex refrigeration and HVAC systems. This is a hands-on role with room for growth, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a dynamic service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform service, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial refrigeration systems (walk-ins, freezers, rack systems, chillers, cooling towers, etc.)
- Repair or replace pumps, compressors, motors, valves, and related refrigeration/HVAC equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical components, motors, and controls up to 480V / 3-phase
- Install and calibrate refrigeration/AC components, thermostats, pressure regulators, VFDs, and other system parts
- Test and repair piping systems and connections; perform leak detection using gauges and solutions
- Utilize EMS (Energy Management Systems) to diagnose and optimize system performance
- Respond to emergency service calls, including after-hours and occasional weekends as needed
- Maintain accurate service logs, records, and documentation
- Operate and maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a safe, professional manner
- Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and industry best practices
Skills & Qualifications
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required
- 3+ years of recent hands-on experience in refrigeration/HVAC service and repair
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration equipment, controls, and system layouts
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications
- Skilled in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical system issues
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Comfortable working in tight spaces, at heights, and in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
