HVAC Service Manager

Tiello has partnered with a leading Mechanical Contractor that is looking for a HVAC Service Manager will oversee and manage both residential and commercial service operations, ensuring timely, efficient, and high-quality HVAC system installations, repairs, and maintenance. This role requires a dynamic leader capable of supervising a team of technicians, providing excellent customer service, managing client relationships, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will have extensive HVAC experience, a deep understanding of residential and commercial systems, and strong leadership skills to foster a productive and efficient team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
- Oversee daily HVAC service operations, ensuring that both residential and commercial projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Schedule and dispatch service technicians to residential and commercial job sites based on skill, availability, and job priority.
- Ensure that the team follows all procedures for quality control, safety, and customer service excellence.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase service efficiency, improve performance, and reduce downtime.
2. Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and lead a team of HVAC technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure a high level of performance.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to ensure technicians are skilled, knowledgeable, and continuously improving.
- Hire, train, and onboard new technicians to support growth in both residential and commercial sectors.
- Facilitate ongoing professional development and certification training for the team.
3. Customer Service & Client Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key residential and commercial clients.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers by ensuring their needs are met and resolving any service issues quickly and effectively.
- Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction and address any service concerns.
- Promote preventative maintenance programs to clients to maximize system efficiency and minimize emergency calls.
4. Budgeting & Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage the service department budget, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Monitor and report on service profitability, identifying opportunities for improvement or cost savings.
- Ensure proper inventory management for service parts and equipment, including ordering and restocking as needed.
5. Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure that all service work meets or exceeds company standards, industry regulations, and customer expectations.
- Maintain knowledge of current HVAC industry codes, standards, and local regulations to ensure compliance.
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Perform quality control inspections and provide feedback to technicians when needed.
6. Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including maintenance schedules, work orders, and customer feedback.
- Provide regular reports to upper management on service department performance, including financials, customer satisfaction, and technician performance.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of operational manuals, best practices, and service procedures.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC services, including both residential and commercial.
- At least 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance processes.
- Certifications:
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal) required.
- NATE Certification preferred.
- HVAC or Mechanical Trade School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Additional certifications in refrigeration, electrical, or specialized systems a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, inventory, and financials.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
- Proficient in HVAC software, service management tools, and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, tools, and materials as required.
- Comfort working in varying weather conditions and job site environments.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require on-call hours or after-hours availability for emergency services.
- Occasional travel to job sites and meetings, primarily within the service area.
- Physical labor is required, including lifting heavy equipment, bending, and standing for extended periods.
