Tiello is proud to partner with a leading custom metal and steel fabrication and erection company in their search for an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join their expanding team. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing organization with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality steel projects. This position will report out of the Corporate office in the high desert but will have a hybrid work schedule.

Title: Estimator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Tekla (preferred platform) to prepare accurate and competitive project estimates related to structural steel fabrication and processing.
  • Analyze job bid instructions, construction documents, and detailed specifications to develop comprehensive estimates.
  • Perform material take-offs and estimate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment of estimates with project goals and requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to support business development and secure competitive pricing.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors; negotiate pricing and terms as needed.
  • Stay current on industry trends, construction techniques, and steel material pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel estimating or a similar role within the construction or fabrication industry.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, particularly Tekla, and other relevant tools.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and team members.
